Sci-Fi TV News Update


It appears that despite rumours to the contrary, pop sensation Brittney Spears will not be appearing in an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer due to scheduling problems. TV Guide online reports that although the pop star won't be appearing on the series at this time, her representative reportedly said that she may be showing up in the future.

According to the Fandom web site, Star Trek: Voyager's Robert Duncan McNeill (Lt. Tom Paris) told them that he would be directing an upcoming episode entitled 'Body and Soul'. The focus of the episode will be on the Doctor (played by Robert Picardo) and Seven of Nine (played by Jeri Ryan). The episode deals with Seven's reaction and the chaos that ensues, when the Doctor has to hide his program in Seven's Borg circuitry. McNeill describes the episode as an action comedy.

There is a possibility that the X-Files may go another season. According to the Sci-Fi Channel's Sci-Fi News Wire, the show's creator, Chris Carter, told fans at an Official chat session on November 6th that the show may go another season (both Gillian Anderson and Robert Patrick have multi-season contracts). He also reportedly said that he has plans to make more X-Files movies.

Also according to the Sci-Fi News Wire, a Tokyo based company, Pine Com International, plans to make an animated series based on the L. Ron Hubbard Science Fiction Novel Battlefield Earth. The company will reportedly make 20 one hour episodes, which they will sell into syndication in the spring of 2002.

In the cliffhanger that was/is the US election, Babylon 5's Jerry Doyle (Michael Garibaldi) lost his bid for the US Congress. According to CNN Doyle recieved 30 percent of the district's votes (63,040) while his rival Rep. Brad Sherman recieved 67 percent (142, 398).
