More Sci-Fi NewsGalaxy Pictures Inc. has announced that it has acquired the rights to 50 classic Sci-Fi and horror movies from Passport International Productions. The titles include Death Race 2000 and Brother from Another Planet. The company plans to screen the movies on it's website. The company is also producing it's own films which include Overload, starring Babylon 5's Bill Mumy and Claudia Christian, as well as Leave it to Beaver's Tony Dow and Star Trek's George Takei. The creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Joss Whedon, has told TV Guide Online that in order to depict the relationship between Willow (played by Alyson Hannigan) and Tara (played by Amber Benson) he had to be creative and that on a network producers/directors/writers don't "have the opportunity with a same-sex relationship to show the kind of graphic coupling" that they do with couples like Buffy and Riley or others. Sandy Frushow the chairman of the 20th Century Fox TV studio reportedly told the Chigago Tribune that Fox is committed to bring the hit series The X-Files back for an eigth season with or without series star David Duchovny. Duchovny has reportedly made clear to the network his terms for coming back. Chris Carter, creator of the series, has repeatedly said that he has no interest in doing an eigth season without Duchovny. Meanwhile, Duchovny's co-star, Gillian Anderson, is still contracted to the series for another season but reportedly says she wants to leave the series. Rumors that La Femme Nikita has been canceled have apparently been confirmed by the SCI-FI Wire. An official announcement is expected to be made soon. According to the SCI-FI Wire, fans of First Wave are organizing a letter writing campaign, modeled after the one Roswell fans set up for WB executives. The letters will be sent to SCI-FI channel executives. Roswell fans mailed thousands of bottles of Tabasco sauce to the executives to get the show renewed. This time First Wave fans are mailing salt to the network's execs in hopes of improving the channel's treatment of the show, among other things. The fans are reportedly unhappy with the numerous repeats, preemptions and what they believe to be a lack of promotion for First Wave. The first season of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is headed for DVD.
