"What if you found a portal to a parallel universe? What if you could slide into a thousand different worlds where it's the same year and you're the same person, but everything else is different? And what if you can't find your way home?"

-Sliders "Opening Monologue"

Sliders takes you through the adventures of four travellers sliding between parallel universes/realities in a search for the universe they started from. The series, created by Tracy Tormé and Robert Weiss, began in 1995 on the FOX network, which cancelled the show after it's third season in 1998. Sliders was then picked up by the SCI-FI channel.

As the series began, Quinn Mallory (Jerry O'Connell) discovered a "gateway" that connected to parallel universes, while he was trying to create an Anti-Gravity device. Quinn excitedly wanted to test his discovery and he opened a "gateway" and slid through, back into what he though was his basement.

Thinking that his new discovery was a failure he left for his regular morning classes at University. However he found "his world" had changed. Green traffic lights that once meant go now meant stop and red meant go. His mother was married to the gardener, Elvis, and John F. Kennedy was still alive...then he got pulled back to his world.

Once back and at the University he finds that his professor Maximilian Arturo (John Rhys-Davies) thinks he's mocking his theories and him. Angry, and totally disgusted, the professor dismissed the class and stormed out.

Quinn, confused by all that was happening, decided to head to his job. Once there he found his best friend and co-worker Wade Wells (Sabrina Lloyd) who tells him that the manager fired him two days before. Returning to his basement, Quinn discovers another Quinn from a parallel universe Quinn waiting in the shadows. It was him that had caused the problems.

Finally realizing what he discovered, Quinn invited the professor and Wade for a demonstration. They slide through to another San Francisco, picking up Rembrandt "Crying Man" Brown (Cleavant Derricks) along the way. Thus began their search for "home".

The search has lasted for five seasons and of the original cast only Cleavant Derricks as Rembrandt is left. Other cast members for the current season include Kari Wuhrer as Maggie Becket, Robert Floyd as Mallory and Tembui Locke as Diana Davis.
