It is with a sad heart that I announce the passing of another great actor in the Sci-Fi genre. John Colicos, the actor best known to Star Trek fans as the 'original' Klingon Commander Kor and to Battlestar Galactica fans as Count Baltar, died Monday, March 6th at around 10 in the morning. He is survived by his wife, Mona, and by his sons, Nicholas and Edmund. The family plans a memorial service for him in the spring in Stratford, Ontario, Canada.
From there, he went on to portray literally hundreds of characters. He was at home on stage or screen. The role I will remember him for most, is his role as Star Trek's first Klingon, Commander Kor in the 1966 episode "Errand of Mercy", a role he would later reprise on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine in the episodes "Blood Oath", "The Sword of Kahless" and "Once More Into The Breach". Among his many television credits, are 'Ilya Kreschenko' from The Scarecrow and Mrs. King episode "Playing Possum", 'Anton Karazna' from the Charlie's Angels episode "Angel in a Box", 'Quinn' from the War of the Worlds episodes "The Prodigal Son" and "My Soul To Keep" and 'Lionel Hirsch' from the Canadian ENG's episode "Smoke and Mirrors" and more. Colicos' other credits include: Treasure Island (1960), The Three Musketeers (1960) (TV), Oliver Twist (1959) (TV), Anne of a Thousand Days (1969), Breaking Point (1976), Scorpio(1973) and many more. Last Week's Question and Answer: What episode of Crusade did Lochley first appear in? Lochley first appeared in the Crusade episode "Ruling from the Tomb".
