Every great story has some kind of romance within it and Science Fiction stories are no exception. In this article I've collected a few of what I think are the most memorable of the Sci-Fi romances in celebration of Valentine's Day.

The most memorable romances from the Star Trek Universe:

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Odo and Kira - Their romance started as a tentative friendship during the Cardassian occupation of Bajor. The friendship grew over the years and blossomed into love. Their love and their friendship have endured many hardships, trials and ordeals but when the last DS9 episode aired they were still together.

Star Trek: The Next Generation's William Riker and Deanna Troi - Will and Deanna's romance started years before the series began, it ended when he was reassigned. Then when they met again years later they decided that friendship was the answer for the awkwardness of the situation. But, over the years they discovered that the love that they had once shared was still there. It wasn't until the events seen in the feature movie Star Trek: Insurrection that they rekindled their romance.

Star Trek: Voyager's Tom Paris and B'Elanna Torres - An original love/hate relationship. Tom and B'Elanna's romance started out with them always arguing over something no matter how big or how small. Then as time wore on they realized that they loved each other. Finally admitting their love for one another while floating in space, their oxygen supply running out.

The most memorable romances from the Babylon 5 Universe:

John Sheridan and Delenn - During the Earth-Minbari war Sheridan and Delenn were on opposite sides, Sheridan fought to save his home, his friends and family from ultimate destruction and Delenn gave the order for the Minbari to start, what they would call the 'Holy War' after the death of their leader by a Earth Explorer Division. Some time later they met on Babylon 5 and began a friendship that blossomed into love. A love so strong that it became Sheridan's reason for living at Z'Ha'Dum when he stood on the edge of a cliff preparing to jump.

Susan Ivanova and Ranger Marcus Cole - An unrequited love, Marcus and Ivanova never got the chance to explore their feelings for each other for many reasons. One of those was that Ivanova was scared of being hurt again and refused to listen to her heart until it was too late. Another was that, in a grand romantic gesture, Marcus sacrificed himself so that the love of his life, Ivanova, could live.
