Sci-Fi TV news update


According to reports the rumours that Paramount was going to close down the theme attraction at the Las Vegas Hilton are untrue. The Trekweb.com site and other websites had reported that the Star Trek: Experience would close because of lower than expected attendance rates. However a spokesperson has said that it's meeting and/or exceeding their "attendance and revenue projections".

The Star Trek: Experience at the hotel includes Quark's bar, a Promenade (for shopping) both based on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine sets, a Star Trek props and memorabilia museum and the flight simulator ride. The spokesperson did confirm that Universal City Studios has filed a lawsuit against Paramount. The suit claims that the simulator violates patents held by Universal City Studios.

According to the Trekweb.com site, Robert Picardo, who portrays the holographic doctor on Star Trek: Voyager has reportedly told convention goers in Oregon that Jennifer Lien, the actress who played Kes, would reprise the role in an upcoming episode of the show. The noted Star Trek author Stephen Edward Poe died on the 6th of January at the age of 63 of Leukemia. Poe co-authored 'The Making of Star Trek' with Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry in 1968 under the pseudonym "Stephen E. Whitfield".

Contrary to rumours, "X-Files" star Gillian Anderson is not in the running to play FBI Agent Clarice Starling in the sequel to the "Slience of the Lambs". The role had been first played by Jodie Foster, who could not play the character again due to a scheduling conflict with her next directorial project..

The FX network has confirmed rumours that it will bring back Chris Carter's series Harsh Realm to television in March. The show, which was cancelled by Fox Broadcasting after airing only three episodes of the virtual reality series.

The network has reportedly said that it will air all nine episodes of the show that were filmed before the series was cancelled, including the six episodes that never made the airwaves. The series stars Scott Bairstow and D. B. Sweeney as soldiers who enter a VR program and battle a 'megalomaniac' who is played by Terry O'Quinn.
