The new comic book series called "Rising Stars" by Babylon 5 creator J. Michael Straczynski is becoming as much of a hit in the comic book industry as Straczynski is in Hollywood.
The first issue of the series has been selling well enough that the comic book's distributor, Image, announced that they have plans to publish 20,000 additional copies.
According to reports that the editor-in-chief of the 'Rising Stars' producer Top Cow, David Wohl, is quoted as saying, "Readers have enthusiastically responded to J. Michael Straczynski's incredible storyline and the top notch artwork in the book." According to reports on Variety, Steven Spielberg is planning to bring the novel "The Tailsman" by Stephen King and Peter Straub to TV as a four part mini-series to air on ABC. Spielberg will apparently take the helm as Executive Producer with Kathleen Kennedy of Kennedy-Marshall Co. No air date has been set yet. According to reports the season premiere of the "X-Files" has been moved back to the 7th of November. This eppisode marks the start of the seventh season of the "X-Files". It's been reported that the BBC is working with TNT and CBS on a King Kong made for TV movie entitled "The Legend of King Kong". The movie will reportedly star Sam Neull, Rachel Weisz, Ian McSane and Laurence Fishburne and is slated to air sometime in July of 2000 in the US and in Britan sometime during the hoildays. WildStorm and DC Comics announced a reunion with Viacom for a new series of comic books that are based on Star Trek. The first issue of the series is a Star Trek: Voyager comic entitled 'False Colors' and it's slated to hit comic book stores in November. Other comics in the series will follow soon after that. The album is dedicated to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and is is a mix of big band classics and ballads.
