The Sci-Fi Tv program First Wave is based on the "Millennium Prophecy" made by Nostradamus. The series, created by Chris Brancato, Frances Ford Coppola and Larry Sugar, stars Sebastian Spence as Cade Foster, Rob LaBelle as Eddie Nambulous (aka Crazy Eddie) and Roger Cross as the alien Joshua.

For those of you not familiar with the prophecies of Nostradamus, here's a little background info. Nostradamus was born, Michel de Nostredame on December 14,1503. He was the most celebrated Physician an occultist of his time. In his early years he studied a variety of subjects that included Latin, Greek, Mathematics, Celestial Sciences. Later on, his gift/reputation for prophecy stirred the suspicions of the Inquisition, which forced him to travel in order to elude Church authorities.

At age fifty he settled in the town of Salon, married and began to concentrate on his writing, which in turn produced yearly almanacs, along with books on prophecy. His prophecies are said to include the rise and fall of Napoleon and Adolph Hitler and the late President John F. Kennedy's assassination.

The volume of his work is very much in debate, for Nostradamus himself mentions in his writing that he burned many of his books after finishing them. The Millennium Prophecy was among the books believed to be lost or destroyed before his death in 1566. This book was said to have been found in Normandy, where Nostradamus wrote a final collection of prophecies for the next millennium.

This prophecy tells of an apocalyptic invasion that comes in three waves of terrifying proportions: the First Wave - an elite infiltrative and saboteur force, the Second Wave - invasion from above, the Third Wave - Armageddon. He also told of the coming of Earth's saviour who will lead the fight against the aliens, "the twice-blessed man." In the TV series First Wave, that man is Cade Foster. Armed with Nostradamus' lost book of prophecy, Foster has the key to defeat the aliens.

Cade Foster is a former thief, who uncovers "a vast conspiracy of alien infiltrators" here on Earth. He's unwittingly picked by the aliens for an experiment that tests the willpower of the human race, and he is known to the aliens as Subject 117. He's also the only human to ever survive the test and escape. After his escape he launches a quest to reveal the alien presence and the threat that their plan presents to Earth.

Foster is joined in his quest by the self-confessed "super genius" "Crazy Eddie" Nambulous. "Crazy Eddie" is the publisher of the web tabloid "The Paranoid Times." "Crazy Eddie" helps Foster by playing cyber-detective, analysing the prophecies. Will they succeed? We'll just have to wait and see. First Wave is being shown on the Sci-Fi Channel in the US and Space the Imagination Station in Canada. Check your local listings for times.
