Today in Star Trek News
ST: Voyager's Tim "Tuvok" Russ' debut album titled Only a Dream in Rio is now available. For more info on the 4-song CD check out http://www.startrek.com. There are many rumours that Captain Janeway is going to leave the show at the end of the season. While unconfirmed, the old rumours have surfaced again. Kate Mulgrew herself has stated that she will "honour her contract" and Paramount's Official statement stated that she "cannot imagine not participating in the show's entire run, whatever that might be." I'll try to keep all you Voyager fans up to date on all the latest happenings. ST: NG's Marina "Deanna Troi" Sirtis is currently starring in the Neil Simon play "Hotel Suite" as Diana. "Hotel Suite," a four-act romantic comedy, is running now through to the end of February at the Walnut Theatre in Philadelphia. Philadelphia locals and those in town for a short while can contact the theatre for info on tickets and times. (Source for Star Trek info is Star Trek.com.) In Other Sci-Fi News The FOX Sci-Fi show Brimstone has been cancelled. Reports from the crew have confirmed the rumours that FOX has axed the show. Some of the unresolved plotlines will be resolved by the time the show goes off the airwaves. Anne McCaffery's novel Dragon-Riders of Pern may be coming to television as a one-hour syndicated Sci-Fi series. Atlantis Communications announced their plans to develop the series last April and the production date was set for sometime this year. Daily Variety reported that Tim Allen of Home Improvement fame, has been cast in the starring role of the new Sci-Fi comedy Galaxy Quest. A TV movie based on Daniel Keyes' Sci-Fi classic Flowers for Algernon is being produced by CBS. It apparently stars Matthew Modine as the lead character. It's scheduled to air in November 1999.
