So take this as a challenge. Listen to every sound you hear in film, TV, and theatre and try to figure out if you are really hearing what you think you are hearing. Sometimes the farther a foley artist gets from the actual thing creating the sound, the more believable the sound is to the audience.

And what, for those hecklers out there, does any of this have to do with saxophones? Well...I did try adapting a saxophone for one of the sound effects I needed. But time constraints prevented the sax from being altered enough to work. It’s too bad, because what I had (again, my best friend mentioned above, but this time playing her baritone saxophone) sounded like it came straight from heaven.
