Further, while I commend schools on focusing on assisting lower income families, I am curious to know how middle and upper-middle class families are affected by these strategies in the long haul. Is this simply just a price discrimination strategy that puts more of a burden on the shoulders of middle class families and then distributing higher tuition revenues back to lower income students through these new programs? If so, I guess its back to the Financial Aid game as a viable strategy for getting a piece of the pie. As long as asset rebalancing is done within legal and ethical boundaries, without any type of misrepresentation, it is acceptable from our point of view.
