I did much better on my return trip. I faithfully used luggage carts. It was only when I made one bus to train transition that I discovered there was neither a redcap nor cart and was once again left to my own devices. Fortunately, I was on a platform and did not have far to go.

I thought about my reliance on the availability of carts and redcaps, as I had been told that either or both would probably be at every station, and realized that I still had not gone all the way in accepting my needs. I had not taken the step of calling ahead and saying that I was a person with an illness who definitely needed special provisions made for me upon my arrival. I was not yet ready for the look on someone's face when I showed up looking rather healthy.

One step at a time.
