Hello my fine sailing companions! My article this month is more along the lines of a review, but a review that had to be done.
4Sailing.com is a gold mine of information about sailing and just about everything you might think of that would be pertinent to sailing. There are links to the official America's Cup 2000 site, which is great! Go there if you want to find out more about the background of the America's cup as well as current information. Then there's what is probably my favorite link, Knowing Your Knots. What a great place to go over all those wonderful knots that we sailors are famous for! Just looking at this page reminded me of teaching little ones the basics of knots, and the messes they would come up with on their way to mastering the perfect knot! The Whitebread Race Around the World is a site that tells you just about everything you need to know about a race around the world. Anyone up to that challenge? BoatSafe.com gives you a plethora of ideas on how to stay safe boating, and by clicking the U.S. Sailing Association link, you’ll have access to the links on its page to information about Olympic sailing. Now I would have liked to know about that one before the Olympics were over! If you’ve ever wondered what all those flags stand for (and they all do mean something!) then you’ve got to check out the International Marine Symbol Flags site. It tells you everything you ever needed to know, and then some. There are so many other links it’s amazing. There are links to site about magazines you can order, weather reports, and even a link to a site that helps you figure out how much your boat is worth…if you can bear to part with her! There are sites about sailing terms, yacht clubs and ocean adventures, as well as a meeting place for Catamaran sailors. And what links page would be complete without a link to a site that gives you more links to even more sailing sites? It's here, have no fear. It took me days…well, O.K., weeks, to check out all the links on this site. But stick with it, it’s well worth the time! Go To Page: 1 2
