WIFI from the Traveling RV

2. By the Day (24 hour period) $7.50.

3. And by the month at $28 bucks. Just as it seemed we would have to pay top dollar for the time up pops another unsecured hotspot so we used it for the access rather than the pay site. We did buy drinks and a pound of coffee while we were there.

So that leaves us with satellite service. This is under investigation by us at the moment and here is what we know so far. By the way if anyone has any input on this please feel free to email me.

1. Direct TV offers it but not to RV'ers. Cost about $600 pus a monthly fee.

2. Motosat offers it to RV'ers via an automatic antenna mounted on your RV. This may or may not always have a clear view of the sky depending where you park. Cost about $4500 plus a monthly fee

3. There is a dealer that I have been in contact with that sells a manual set-up with an antenna mounted on a surveyor's tripod that they say is FCC legal.

One problem here is that you have to meet up with these people to attend a one or two day class to satisfy FCC regulations for installing the system. The second problem is that you have another thing that isn't attached to your rig to store while you are traveling. The third problem is that this dealer is traveling around the country showing his wares at RV shows and never seems to be anywhere near me. Cost is approx $1500 plus that old monthly fee.
