We Are Here, We Are Here!!We arrived at our summer workamping location on April 10. We were to get set up on our site and begin work on the following Monday, April 14. Due to several unforeseen events and a late spring we moved onto our site on May 9 and the fulltime work has yet to start. Actually had they paid attention most of the problems could have likely been avoided. There were to be sites ready for us to move to but due to the late spring they had not been able to work on them. The workampers, as we arrived were put in temporary locations. Most were located in the same campground as the new sites. We, however, are located in another campground approximately 15 miles away. As the site construction went on management never noticed that there were not enough sites being built for the number of workampers. I guess that no one could count, we did and mentioned it but to no avail. The construction went on and when the sites were proclaimed completed the game of musical sites began. Well guess well guess who was the odd man out. By the time we were told of the sites completion and being 15 miles away, there were no sites left. The interesting thing here is we are parked in the spot that is the site for the maintenance person for this campground. He is presently in route. This means we will have to move to another location until the "brain surgeons" can cut out more sites, by the way none of the other sites are full hookup. On to the work situation, again due to the late spring it is not as warm as expected therefore there the expected customers have not yet started to arrive. I have always said that until Easter passes it will not be "warm". Our work hours have been limited by the slow season start. The first week was to be training but due to equipment problems, no advance check was done, training was minimal. The second week we were thrust into replacing a manager had to leave due to health reasons. With the minimal training we had we opened and operated one of their locations until another manager was found and guess who trained them. The positive part of this is, at least for us we learn much better hands on than by watching over someone's shoulder.
