Some time ago I posted a story about a very unusual runner I met. I got such a high response from that story, I thought many of you would enjoy an update - and therefore, to keep things light - I have included a version of that story plus the new updated information never posted here before.

Grab a coffee, a cup of tea or hot chocolate - sit back, relax for a moment and enjoy the story.

Elmer - The Update!

I was at the end of my slow run on one of many narrow trails that meanders through the woods. I was beginning to get really cold and headed to my car. I was eager to retrieve my thermos and was glad I'd had the foresight to bring hot coffee with me today.

As soon as I reached the auto I slipped into a heavier coat, thrust my cold hands into some thick gloves, then poured a cup of coffee. I leaned against the car and savored my first sip. As far as I was concerned, nothing was as quite as good as drinking fresh-brewed coffee first thing in the morning, unless it was drinking hot coffee right after a cold run in the winter!

A thick layer of fresh snow covered the countryside. The off-road trail I liked to run on was quite pretty at any time of year, but now, with a fresh white blanket covering everything, it was more lovely than usual. Today it looked as if everything had been sprinkled with diamond dust and confectioners sugar. It was dazzling to behold and I stared captivated at the beauty and tranquility spread before me.

Lofty evergreens seemed to reach up - brush against low laying canopy of clouds - and tickle more crystals from the sky. The snow muffled sound and the woods stood silent and serene. Shafts of sunlight descended through distant clouds making remote mountains sparkle. I took another sip of coffee. My hands were finally warm in the snug embrace of woolen gloves. I had picked a great day to be here.

I was almost ready to leave and head for my home when I saw him.
