The Best Training Advice May Be To Listen To Yourself!

First I would like to remind runners of the following event. Each week I will be posting information about it until the event is over. If you can help in any way, I urge you to get involved. (also see last weeks article)

What is Camp Sunshine?

Since its inception in 1984, Camp Sunshine has provided a no-cost respite to 3,121 families from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Families with a child diagnosed with diseases such as cancer, kidney disease, lupus, diabetes, solid organ transplant and other life threatening diseases attend one of our weeklong camps. Camp Sunshine's focus is on alleviating the strain a critical illness places not only on the sick child but also on other family members. Families have an opportunity to rebuild their relationships together and meet other families facing similar challenges.

The Miracle Marathon is an opportunity for Camp Sunshine to show the world that when it comes to a child's happiness no distance is too far. The goal for the Miracle Marathon is to raise $150,000. All proceeds will be used to provide a weeklong respite at Camp Sunshine for 100 critically ill children and their families during the 2001 sessions. Both corporations and individuals are welcome to participate in this event via donations of products, services, and/or funds. Those only able to lend a hand are equally welcome. For more information about Camp Sunshine and its Miracle Marathon, please call Matt Hoidal at (603) 398-7184, or Donna Leith at Camp Sunshine at (207) 655-3800.

Or visit our websites at www.campsunshine.org and www.miraclemarathon.org.

Donations may be mailed to: Attn: Miracle Marathon, Camp Sunshine, 35 Acadia Road, Casco, ME 04015. Matt Hoidal email : mhoidal@msn.com

If it works for you, then why change it?

I have received quite a few email lately asking for training advice. Some of you have very definate ideas about what works and the bottom line is - if it works for you then it is probably the best method to train by.

Training is not something that should be dictated to you by any one else. But I will encourage you to be smart about it.

We all have our reasans for wanting to stay in shape as well as we all have our own reasons for running.

Some of us want to stay healthy as we age. Some of us want to slow down the clock. Others like to compete no matter what the age. And we can because in a race, in a running event, we are all in certain age categories - thus making it a much more fair competition for each of us.
