This will probably be one of the most unusual articles you will read - at least with regards to me. This is the true story of how one very amazing cat saved this runner (yours truly) and her husband ... read on to find out how!

Runner's Cat Saves Family!

First, I'll take you to the beginning.

In the summer of 1989, I was involved in a rescue of a blind orphan feral kitten. She was a mere five week old waif when the call came in. "Lynn" the familiar voice said, "a tiny calico kitten was just dropped off. The woman who brought her to me said that her husband had intended to drown it that very day. She brought the kitten to me in the hopes I could find her a home. She came from a farm and hasn't been handled much. There is something else you should know - the kitten is totally blind and will never see. Could you help?"

Without a moments hesitation I responded "yes - I'll be right over."

One hour later found me kneeing in front of the kitten. I had intended to provide a foster home for the kitten until I could find a suitable home for her. As it turned out, she was such a remarkable kitten, I just could not bear to part with her. She became part of the family. Over the years she had one adventure after another and proved time and again what a very special cat she was. But I had no clue that she would one day save us from an intruder. Whether his motive was to rob us or worse, we will never know. But we were clearly in danger the night Aggie saved us.

That night, some years ago, was a bitterly cold night in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. The snow lay deep and covered everything. At three a.m. - the neighborhood was silent. Our old two story home was warm and cozy - the windows tightly shut against the winter air. My husband and I were safely asleep in our upstairs bedroom - unaware that a dangerous event was unfolding outside in the tiny alley that separated our home from the next.

The prowler had decided to enter through a side window that faced the small alley. There were no other windows from which he would be seen and it was unlikely anyone would be out on this frigid night. Even if that happened and someone were to

Aggie is at www.laceyville.com/aggie she will be 15 years old April 2004. She is still sassy, though she is getting frail.
