Right about now the weather up in the northern part of the states is locked in the last throes of a winter storm. As for me - well - I am more than ready to see the green grass poking through the soil and not see any more white stuff. Enough already with the snow!

It is true that some clear winter days are breathtaking, yet at this point, as we near the end of February, I want spring to arrive.

I miss the days of running outside and not having to watch out for ice. I also miss the days where the weather will stay the same for hours at a stretch. I have found myself surprised by the changeable weather too often lately. Ditto on too much ice and too many cinders.

But - I am going to cheer up because spring is only a few weeks away. The worst is over and I look forward to the days of sunshine and flowers and birds singing. To being outside and running in races and not needing a heavy coat as soon as I stop moving.

Yes - as you can see I am ready for all the fun that spring time running offers. It keeps me focused - this hope of a soon to be season. And it should keep your spirits up too.

A lot of the email I received this past week more or less said what I have just expressed. Which is to say that we are ready to get on with the fun part of the year and start running outside without all the hats and jackets we now need. And I for one would like to be able to exhale without looking like a smoker...

Well, we can all cheer up because spring is close and for those of us that live up north, the snow will soon be gone.

Stay tuned and come back next week. I will be having a new contest starting soon and you know what that means... free goodies for you!

Lynn,

You're right about how we wait for Spring up North. My 14-year-old running son can hardly wait for the ice to leave so his track team can start running outdoors! ...
