I then asked if she thought he was up to talking on the phone, to which she casually answered, "Oh sure mom said he just came in from mowing the lawn."
Thank you, George for the delightful story! Dear Editor The route I run along every morning before work is beautiful. But I have one major and dangerous problem. Dogs! So far I have not been bitten, but some of the regulars on the route have! I don't want to carry pepper spray as I was told it doesn't work well in cold conditions. Also, one friend of mine accidentally sprayed himself instead of an attacking dog. Any ideas? M.H. Dear M.H. That can indeed be a serious problem! I may just have the solution for you though. I read about a device that the Canadian Postal Service is using. They have had excellent results using something called a "Dazer" that emits high-frequency sound waves audible only to dogs. Although nothing is foolproof, it does work well according to the mail carriers. The "Dazer" weighs about five ounces and comes with a belt clip. It cost around $30, including batteries. Here is the toll free number where you can get more information about it: 1-800-262-3963. Good luck! READERS, be sure to check out the links list each week for new and exciting web sites! Keep sending in those questions and I will try to find the answers for you. |
