I have received many e-mail as well as phone calls asking how I did in the Steamtown marathon. (thanks everyone) Grab a cup of coffee (or tea) and settle in as I relate the weekend activities, including how the race went for me. Saturday was the day of the Expo at Steamtown. I met a lot of interesting runners, many of whom had exceptional stories to tell me. Runners are a unique group of people indeed and it was a pleasure to be able to speak to so many. It was also a privilege to sign books for all those that decided to read my new book. I'd love to get feedback from you, so feel free to e-mail me. One fellow even brought his copy of 'Running Forward ~ Looking Back' from home so I could sign it. It was my delight to do so. (Hi Joe.) At 2 p.m. on Saturday, I gave my talk on 'The Golden Moment' and runners - veterans as well as neophyte marathoners - seemed to relate to what I had to say. Bill King and Jon Sinclair were also present and gave excellent insight about the course as well as answered training questions to the assembled runners. It was a good day. My husband and I checked into a nearby hotel after the Expo. However that night we found we could not get to sleep due to the extremely loud music from a wedding being held in the hotel that night. Finally we drifted off to sleep sometime after 11 p.m. The next morning I suddenly bolted wide awake and to my dismay saw that the clock read 6:39 a.m. - I could not believe it! We had less than 10 minutes to get to the bus that would take us to the starting line! I shouted to my husband, "John, wake up! We're late, we have to get up!" That startled him wide awake. A moment later I switched on the light in the room. It was then I realized the clock actually read 1:39 a.m. - not 6:39 a.m. Although we were relived that we did not have to dash from the room at break-neck speed, it was clear that it would be a while before sleep would descend upon us again. I apologized
