RUNNERS' BLOOD!
I just finished an intriguing book written by Dr. James Fischer. The title is Runners' Blood. And no, it is not a text book on the components of blood.
Rather, it covers the components of a mystery that will keep you guessing until the very end. James J. Fisher, (M.D., Ph. D.) has been the Chairman of Therapeutic Radiology at the Yale University School of Medicine for almost three decades now. He is a renown cancer researcher and the author of numerous scientific publications. James Fischer is also an avid cyclist and ardent runner. He has completed many races and marathons in his life and he isn't done yet! He has run the New York City Marathon as a member of Fred's team, which honors the race's founder and helps support cancer research. I thought you would appreciate the genius behind the compelling book. Only a runner with the brilliant mind of a scientist could take the premise, which by the way has some scientific, plausibility, perhaps even a likely foundation and take us into the realm of intrigue. If you want a good mystery, if you want a captivating read that will occupy your mind and enthuse your running, then this is a must read! Having said all that , allow me to tell you the ending of the book..no, I guess not! You'll have to read the book yourself to find out the ending. From the very first page the reader is drawn into the world of runners and blood doping and intrigue as well as murder. It is not a quick read, but rather - should be looked upon as an exquisite journey of riddles. I was truly fascinated by the characters, and found myself transported to the areas the events took place in. It is an easy way to travel. I do not want to diminish any part of the book by revealing too much to you, so I will close by saying this; if you want to enjoy one of the best novels ever written by a runner-scientist, then you MUST get a copy of this book! Runners' Blood is certain to have a movie made about it for many reasons. And if it does, I will be one of the first standing in line to see it. Well done Dr. Fischer!
