What could be more wonderful than combining your love of stamping with a much needed vacation? Attending a rubber stamp convention will fill both of these needs with ease. Many areas of the country will host rubber stamp conventions this summer and it could prove the perfect week-end get-a-way for you and a friend. From the east to the west, stamp convention hosts are preparing to show you the latest and greatest rubber stamps, techniques and tips to make your projects for fall and winter even more spectacular.

Conventions often feature classes with your favorite rubber stamp "personalities" and teachers. Check websites of your favorite stamp companies and see if they will be attending upcoming shows in your area, with either their own design and education staff, or celebrities who love their particular products.

If you are a fan of unmounted rubber, you're going to be in heaven at a rubber stamp convention. Tubs of unmounteds sit at various booths, just waiting for the stampers to dig through. Take home your favorites and trim, and you have a new trove of wonderful stamped images. Mounting supplies and organizational products are usually available as well.

Some tips for attending conventions: 1)Bring comfy shoes, because you'll do lots of walking and standing. 2)Set a limit financially, because its easy to get carried away. 3)Bring mailing labels for sign up sheets for catalogs or product information...it will save you from hand cramps. 4)Bring some blank cardstock, in case you can't wait to try out your new finds. 5)Create pins to trade with other show attendees. Decide on a theme and do an assembly line type of production to make it easier on yourself. 6)Make a list of images you're trying to find, products you'd like to try and tools you need to seek out. 7)When you arrive at the show, you may want to walk around once to see what there is to offer and then go back to those things that caught your eye. This also allows you to compare prices on items you might be searching for that are available from more than one exhibitor. 8)Make and Take Tables are usually the least busy first thing in the morning, late in the day and around lunch time. (Of course that all depends on the popularity of the project being done...the first convention I went to where they were using Versa-Mark ink, the make and take was always busy.) 9)Have a small notebook or pad of paper to take notes on techniques, new companies or to jot down websites!
