Finding new sources of inspiration is cause for rejoicing at any time, but when the resource is as beautiful and as well thought out as Expression it deserves kudos at the highest level. Expression is a bi-monthly publication from Publisher's Development Corporation. Subscriptions run $24.95 per year and a single copy is $5.95 per issue. This publication debuted in January and combines projects of many different types into one beautiful resource. I picked up a copy at the January HIA show and was so impressed I felt it deserved a column all its own. Trust me, its worth every penny. The premiere issue contributors include Susan Pickering Rothamel, who, as the founder of US Art Quest, has been the developer of many innovative art products and Vesta Abel, a talented designer and innovator in her own right. Ms. Rothamel contributed a home decorating piece created with several of US Art Quest's most popular products that allows a "Cinderella" transformation to an otherwise ordinary chest of drawers. The projects range from dolls to handmade books and altars. A variety of products and materials are featured. I'm excited to make the Remarkable Rock Characters designed by Vesta Abel for my own southwest decor theme in my living room, but you'll find dozens of other projects to inspire your decorating and gift giving desires. There is a section called Website Showcase that features the opening pages of websites. Its a great idea to be able to quickly glance at the site openers to decide if its worth your precious surfing time. Some of them you maybe familiar with sites such as Clearsnap or Duncan, but sites like http://www.asmallcleverness.com and http://www.thinkink.net were new to me and look inviting. I found this idea especially appealing for those stamp sites that I visit infrequently. I can quickly assess what new promotions or projects are up and running without having to spend time clicking and waiting for sites to load. Columns include What's in Your Toolbox for a look at some different tools other paper artists find useful(always amazing to me how inventive people can be),Tools and Temptations...for new products, Essential Techniques...for a mini refresher or chance to update a skill and an elaborate resource guide (which I love...because I hate starting a project and being unable to identify a vital supply in the course of construction!). There is a great calendar of events with detailed information on contacts and whereabouts of conventions and shows. Go To Page: 1 2
