When kids go back to school, they love to have personalized items to show their unique style. One of the beauties of rubber stamping is that we have the ability to personalize items right at out finger tips. Alphabet stamp sets and name stamps are both available from a variety of companies. Anything from romantic, victorian swirls to contemporary boxy shaped alphabets are available on the web. If you prefer, you can purchase a stamp with your child's name spelled exactly the way you want it, rather than searching through name stamps at the craft store, hoping you'll stumble on the unique spelling. Visit http://www.paperangel.com and http://www.rubberstampit.com/anyname.htm for sites where you can order a stamp with your child's name. If you are concerned about putting your child's name on shirts, pencil boxes, backpacks or other items, put your heads together and come up with a symbol, or symbols that you feel defines him or her. Currently, my son is into rock and roll in a big way...so an appropriate symbol might be a guitar, a music note or the name of his favorite band. For a younger child, cars, animals or a favorite book can serve as a jump off point. For Harry Potter fans, go to All Night Media and you'll find dozens of appropriate stamps to personalize your school supplies. Another idea is to purchase magnets and stamp your favorite symbols onto adhesive back paper and use the magnets in a school locker or on the fridge to hang homework assignments or papers that need to be returned. Xyron's newest small machine actually has a magnetic roll that you can use with the ease of the Xyron machine to make this process even easier. You can see the machine at http://www.xyron.com. When stamping on plastic, like notebook covers, pencil boxes and other school supplies, you'll want to use a permanent ink and allow the item to sit for 30 minutes or so to insure that the piece is completely dry. For backpacks, t-shirts, jackets and other items you can use one of several fabric inks available. Jacquard makes a wonderful fabric paint that you can paint on the stamp and then use for your image. http://www.jacquardproducts.com/paints.h... is the site to visit for comparison of their paint products and colors available. Fabrico makes great ink pads and pens...so if you want to stamp and write you have that option as well. http://www.stampit.com/fabrico.htm will give you the option of purchasing pens or pads to suit your needs.
