Turkey Day Decor to be Thankful For!

With all the preparation for Thanksgiving,(buying the bird, making the pies, finding enough folding chairs and cleaning the guest room for Great Aunt Edna and Uncle Harvey), who has time to stamp table decorations. You, thats who! You'll enjoy the chance to be creative and be able to hit your other party details with a new spirit of inspiration and maybe even some pizazz.

Personally, I don't have a great deal of Thanksgiving related stamps so I rely on those for fall, such as leaves, pumpkins and even an ivy vine. But there are scads of great stamps on the web and if you need some different rubber stamps to light up your decor you might want to visit these sites.

If you are looking for a whimsical turkey stamp for a clever card or centerpiece display, look nor further than the Tennessee Tommy Turkey at www.Lindystampgang. This bird is a riot and the feathers will allow you to use your most artistic approach. The sight also has sentiment stamps in a few different styles. At www.stampingground.com there are several unmounted sheets that can be purchased that provide a variety of looks from humorous to sophisticated. On www.shopanywhere.com/stampersstudio/products you can purchase fall layering swatches of a variety of colors to give your thanksgiving stamping a new hue.

For an upscale decoration for your table, try place setting cards for your guests done with the new Versamark ink. Using a dark green or brown cardstock and a cornucopia stamp or some fall leaves, stamp over the cardstock with the versamark ink. This ink shows one shade darker that the paper color, leaving the illusion of the watermark behind. You can now use a gold pen to write the names of your guests on the place cards. Add a wired silk ribbon or cording around the edge of the card.

For a quick centerpiece, stamp the outside of small terra cotta pots and set votive candles inside. Surround a large candle set in a larger pot that you've stamped as well with the smaller pots or place small pots at each individual's place.

In my surfings for this article I found a new site to be thankful for! Check out www0.delphi.com/rubber/ and go to the Dr.HMO section for some great insights, tips and techniques. This is a wonderful site with lots to offer. Put this one in your list of favorites. You'll be going back for seconds I know! Don't miss the next few columns as we prepare for Christmas and Hannukah. Till then-Happy Stamping!
