What I Did On Summer Vacation

way, I did get another badge for doing part of the agility course.

Oh, and I really loved Splash Lake, which is a large pond just behind the lodge. You could swim or chase frogs or go boating, whatever you wanted. The camp offered water safety badges and I think Wendy wanted me to get one, but I had other ideas. I let her know pretty fast that I only wanted to have fun at the pond, and that if she wanted to throw something into the water to be retrieved, then she was going to be the one retrieving it herself. Hee-hee. She would throw the dumbbell and I would run the other way chasing waves.

Later in the week though, Matt and Wendy did take me out in a rowboat. It was such a blast. I had never ridden in a boat before and I loved it! In fact, I was tempted to bite Wendy for not taking in a boat sooner (just kidding).

There were several activities and lectures for the humans, too. The staff was very nice and very informative. Most of the lectures I personally could have done without, but Wendy and the other people seemed to really get a kick out of them (wolf behavior, preventing aggression, positive training methods, yadda-yadda-yadda). Humans are so easily amused. Although I must admit I liked it when the humans watched a Tellington Touch video, because Wendy and Matt practiced on me. Mmmmmm.

But what people really seemed to like the best was a dog activity called The Art of Shaping. You see, Dog Scouts really emphasizes positive training methods, like clicker training. And they believe that you can clicker train a dog to do just about anything, including to paint a picture. So Wendy strapped a paint-soaked sponge to my paw, grabbed a bunch of treats and proceeded to train me to smack at a canvas with said paw.

Wendy and Matt were so funny. Wendy told Matt, "I know she just wants the treats, but she looks like she's really concentrating on what to paint."

HA! If only she knew about all of those times I've studied her Pre-Raphialite art books while she was away at work. Although, I must admit that my artwork has a more ... ahh ... modern look to it.

I also earned another of those merit badge thingies for painting, too.

Other things I got to do while
