What I Did On Summer Vacation

The weather was cooler than it is in Tennessee, but I certainly didn't have a problem with that. You see, sometimes Tennessee in the summer is not the best place in the world to be a black dog.

The lodge that the campers got to stay in wasn't completely done, but no one had a problem with that at all. Our little pack had a private room and the beds were very comfortable (I know because Wendy let me sleep in hers).

All of the human meals were provided by the camp. Wendy and Matt both said that the food was great. I wouldn't know though. Wendy called me a "shameless beggar" and left me in our room during meals so that I "wouldn't be a nuisance". Can you believe that? How could she say something like that about me of all dogs? After all, I just want to make sure nothing goes to waste. I'm not a shameless beggar, I'm environmentally conscious. But I digress, again.

There several miles of hiking trails around the camp, so backpacking is one of the most popular badges to earn. Nearly every dog there hit the trails. Of course the humans had to spoil it a little by strapping those ridiculous packs on our backs, but I could deal with that. After all, I have to carry a pack all the time at home. Just between you and me, Wendy's a lazy thing. But back to what I was saying, nearly every dog in the camp came along; even a little 3 LB dog named Holly. She might have been small, but she had no trouble keeping up with me. I must admit that I was a bit jealous though, I wish my backpack was as small as hers was. By the end of the week, even Holly had a merit badge for backpacking.

There was also an agility course, which was pretty fun, I guess. I have a rather ho-hum attitude toward agility. I'll do it, but it has to be at my own leisurely pace. What's the point of hurrying through life anyway? I must admit though, I really like going through tunnels, especially that one that looks like there is a sheet hanging off of one end (I think Wendy called it a shute). The dog walk was pretty fun, too. Yes, I like walking on at eye level with Wendy. But any way,
