Christmas in Connecticut

to be everything she's not. Here's an actress that acts with her eyes! From the moment she first looks at Jefferson she sweeps you into her heart where you feel her unexpected surprise at finding a man that appeals to her.

Dennis Morgan is charming as the hometown, hungry hero with just a touch of bad boy in him. The instantaneous sparks between him and Barbara are nearly enough to colorize this film!

Christmas in Connecticut is an adorable, fish-out-of-water holiday film. Thanks to Phyllis Williams for the recommendation. I loved the bath time scene in the beginning. Elizabeth's panic, then relief, are tangible as she passes the buck, er baby, to Jefferson. It's a delight to see how she ingeniously scrambles out of one mess only to land in another. Thank goodness for Uncle Felix! I give this festive, fluff four hearts.

Best moment:
No longer able to avoid her boss's plea to cook, Elizabeth flips him a pancake.

Best lines:
"Her heart, or your stomach." Soldier Sinkewicz advising Jefferson to sweet talk the nurse in order to get the food he wants.

"The things a girl will do for a mink coat." Elizabeth

"Oh, it's Yardley. He's sending me a sailor for Christmas." Elizabeth

"But, if you'll forgive my saying so Uncle Felix, I won't feel quite the same as if you'd cooked it, Mrs. Sloan."
"Believe me, you will feel much better." Yardley and Felix

"Having babies to boost your circulation takes time." Sloan to Yardley.

"I find it hard to believe you're married."
"I find it difficult myself." Jefferson and Elizabeth.

"Nice firm rump." Jefferson speaking to a horse, though Elizabeth thinks at first he's speaking to her.

"Well, wouldn't you look different if you'd swallowed a watch?"
"But he's blond, has teeth and he talks." Elizabeth trying to explain away her baby switch to Yardley.

"If a cow can do it, I can do it."
"Oh Felix, you're wonderful."
"Moo." Felix creates another distraction to keep Elizabeth from getting married.

"You mean you're arresting us?"
"That's right, lady."
"Isn't that wonderful." Elizabeth, happy to postpone Jefferson's departure in any way she can.

"I changed my type."
"What do you mean?"
"Now, I'm the type that does kiss married women." Jefferson to Elizabeth after he discovers her ruse.

"I'm as free as a bird."
"That's what you think." Jefferson and Elizabeth
