Rabbi Jake Schram and Father Brian Finn are best friends who find Keeping the Faith hard to do when they fall in love with the same girl.

Rabbi Jake Schram (Stiller) and Father Brian Finn (Norton) are known in their New York community as the God Squad. They've been best friends since the sixth grade when Anna Banana saved them from a bully, making the trio inseparable. It's been sixteen years since they last saw Anna (Elfman), but she's returned, a beautiful, workaholic businesswoman who is stealing their hearts and challenging their faith.

The cast of Keeping the Faith is extraordinary! Elfman steps out of her quirky Dharma shoes to play a strong, flirty yuppy who lives by her cell phone. You'll love her as much as they do.

Stiller is outstanding as the gregarious, passionate, but cautious Jake who fears falling out of favor with his family and community.

Norton shines as the charming young priest who loses his heart and questions his calling. I promise, he'll pluck at all your emotions.

Keeping the Faith is similiar to Whoopi Goldberg's Sister Act in which she "packs the house" with her unconventional approach. Both Brian and Jake are innovative young men trying to interest people in their respective religions without being competitive. In fact, one of their brilliant ideas is to open an inter-faith social club to bring people together. Their creativity, along with the matchmaking poor Jake is constantly subjected to, and the return of Anna makes this a delighful film full of humor, sensitivity and romance. I HIGHLY recommend it with four and a half hearts. A little heartache keeps it from being a five.

Best lines:
"Spectacles, testicles, watch, wallet." Young Brian explaining how to do the sign of the cross to Jake.

"It's customary to sneak out after communion." Brian to one of his parishioners.

"God is a lot like Blanche Dubois, He relys on the kindness of strangers." Jake

"I have a relationship with my phone. It's set to vibrate." Anna

"God, was showing off when he made you." Jake to Anna. I LOVE this line!

"I feel like I'm on some bad, new Aaron Spelling show, Melrose Priest." Brian to Anna.

"Is it just me or did confession get a little touchy feely?" One of Brian's parishioners.

If you liked this you might like:
Krippendorf's Tribe with Jenna and Richard Dreyfuss. James Krippendorf is an anthropologist who's over his head in trouble. To cover-up his mis-use of grant money he creates a fictitious lost New Guinea tribe played by his family and girlfriend. I LOVED this movie. It's hilarious. Just when you thought things couldn't possibly get worse, they do.
