Don't Go Breaking My Heartaka Us Begins With You Anthony Edwards, Jenny Seagrove Square Dog Pictures 1998 PG Available on video When widower Suzanne Brody remains reluctant to start dating again she gets a few suggestions from her friend--hypnotic suggestions! Suzanne Brody is a beautiful, English widower with two children. It's been 18 months since her husband's death, but she still isn't ready to start dating, despite her friends efforts to convince her otherwise. One such friend is Frank, a dentist that uses hypnosis rather than pain medication to aide his patients. Frank has ulterior motives for getting Suzanne back on the dating circuit. He wants her to date him. When Suzanne continually turns him down he decides to use hypnotic suggestions to his advantage during one of her dental appointments. His suggestions work...too well. Not only does she find Frank attractive, she finds American P.E. teacher and sports trainer, Tony Dorfman, irresistible too. Before she knows it Suzanne has lost her heart to Tony, a man she claims isn't her type. Question is, is it love or hypnosis? DON'T GO BREAKING MY HEART is a British movie with a cute premise, but it fails to reach its potential. Slow pacing, weak script, minimal humor, flat characters, and unfeasible situations make it lackluster and hollow. The cast is great and includes not only Anthony Edwards and Jenny Seagrove, but Jane Leeves, Charles Dance and Tom Conti. Unfortunately, none of them are ever given an opportunity to truly shine. The secondary characters are used too little and the main characters are just cardboard cutouts--no emotion, no chemistry, no life. Never do you actually feel the hero and heroine fall in love. Unfortunately, this movie broke my heart. Too little humor, too little romance, two little hearts. Best lines: "How about if I come over?" "Was that a collective no, or just one of us?" Tony "When the timing's right, you'll have to make me a promise that I will be the first to know." Tony "You see a woman must fight for her man, mustn't she? After all, I'm Sagittarian and it's time for my afternoon delight. Call me." Suzanne to Tony after hearing the radio during one of her hypnosis sessions. "Us begins with you." Suzanne to her son, Ben.
