Three Thistles

When a secret agent finds herself cornered in a Paris book store by the most-feared of Napoleon's hired assassins, she slips a marked-up copy of Homer's Illiad into a patron's basket. Shortly after, she dies hoping that the secret code in the book will make it to the proper authorities.

Rare Bookseller Abigail Vayle is scared out of her wits when a man with a knife comes to her room looking for a copy of a book she picked up while in France. He wants the book so badly that he threatens to kill for it, beginning with her beloved brother, George.

Abbie would have gladly turned over the book, if only she still had it. Fortunately, she finds out where it is, and with her brother's life in the balance, she races off to the English Customs office to retrieve the sought-after book.

Hugh Templar is a scholarly fellow, usually with his nose in a book or digging around some historical ruins. But, when his former co-hort at the foreign office starts asking questions about his friend, Abbie, he sticks his nose into her business and runs after her and the elusive book.

As the puzzle pieces surrounding the mystery of the book are thrown together, so are Abbie and Hugh. Abbie realizes that she can't read the real Hugh Templar. He, on the other hand, believes that he has read her all wrong.

In "Whisper His Name," a passion for books flares into a deep love for life as Hugh and Abbie work together to uncover the secret of the code. Elizabeth Thornton weaves an intricate tale where one can't tell who is a spy and who is a lover of books, until the final page is turned.

This book provided an action-filled plot set against the backdrop of Napoleon's imprisonment in Elba after his abdication.
