There, on a promise, he will search for a portrait for an old woman who has lost her family and her beloved granddaughter to the flames of a vicious fire. Upon his arrival to Ironcross, Laird Kerr is met not only by fearful tenants, but a mysterious abbess and a ghost who steals portraits. It seems that the castle saddled with a curse and a history of its Lairds dying young. When a falling rock nearly crushes Gavin's skull, he realizes that he is slated to be next on the list of mysterious deaths. As Gavin Kerr sifts through the ashes of the burned South Wing of Ironcross, the truth slowly emerges, as does his passion for the lady in the portrait. It is not long before he is consumed by the flames of love and a desire to bring justice to the evil that dwells at Ironcross. In FLAME, May McGoldrick, brings us into the deep, dark recesses of underground tunnels at Ironcross Castle, where we flinch at every turn as danger lurks in each corner and in every face we encounter. Caught in the rapture of a love that has arisen from the ruins, we fear for the safety of Gavin and the woman who lit a fire in his heart. The intricately woven plot and fascinating legend of Ironcross castle, as well as the ever-present burning embers of love make this book a wonderfully exciting read and merited it a very good, four thistle rating.
