Four Thistles
Highly Recommended Read

Against a backdrop of lonely heather and gypsies dancing in the moonlight, the exotic Tamsin Armstrong and rogue Will Scott pair up to combat a plot to steal the infant queen Mary of Scotland.

A gypsy with a hand marked the devil's claw and a spy who has allied with English, Tamsin and Will make an unlikely couple. However, strange things begin to happen under the magical heather moon. When it appears that Tamsin will be forced into an unwanted marriage with a Romany widower, the beguiling Will Scott forsakes his bachelorhood and temporarily claims her as his own.

Caught up in the farce of a marriage of convenience, the beautiful Tamsin's feelings for Will wax and wane as the moon goes through its cycles. Even though she holds a talent for palms and tarot in her misshapen hand, Tamsin foregoes the reading her own future for a chance to follow her heart--wherever it may lead.

Yet Tamsin is not the only one who has a hand in fate. A small box possessed by Will's mother holds the secret death wish of Will's murdered father. Perhaps hearts and fate are moving in the same direction.

Susan King's "The Heather Moon" is a delightful journey back to the days surrounding the birth of infant Mary Queen of Scots. In this captivating romance, King vividly portrays the rivalry between the Scots and the English, while at the same time painting a colorful portrait of a travelling band of gypsies and writing a beautiful love story.

I have given this novel a wonderful four-thistle rating, because of its believable and likable characters, interesting plot, and its fascinating glimpse into a well-known era of Scottish history. This book is truly an enjoyable read and one I highly recommend!
