The Knight by the Pool

Marie de France is a timeless heroine, one who could easily and believably appear in any time period, both modern and ancient, yet still she holds true to her own twelfth century. Masson has created a fascinating, reluctant hero in the likes of Sir Llew, whose image will forever be conjured at the sight of a majestic, white swan. Her villains of the overworld and underworld are articulately crafted, vile in their own right, and yet human and deserving of compassion.

SOPHIE MASSON has cast a spell with THE KNIGHT BY THE POOL, and I am completed enthralled by it. KNIGHT proves to be an exquisitely tantalizing combination of fact, fiction, poetry, prose, history, fable, folklore and fairy tale. Rarely will one get so much "potion," from one book. I cannot wait until I get my hands on THE LADY OF THE FLOWERS.
