Especially with the emergence of the Internet, many couples are finding themselves involved in long-distance romances. When we opened up communications to the world, we also opened exponential numbers of global couples. Some that have fallen in love on-line or in other forums have bridged the distance, but many don't have that option. Careers and other obligations even force many married couples to live in separate states. Military partners are quite frequently parted as well. Whether the long-distance relationship is temporary (even for short terms like business trips) or an on-going situation, couples can use the space and time to actually bring them closer.

If you and your distanced honey both have access to the Internet, there is a growing market filled with aids to keep you together and sane even when you can't be physically together. Several excellent options include, e-mail, IRC, ICQ, designing a shared web site to send each other messages along with graphics and sound files, voice mail, setting up a web cam, etc.
