Long-Distance LoveEspecially with the emergence of the Internet, many couples are finding themselves involved in long-distance romances. When we opened up communications to the world, we also opened exponential numbers of global couples. Some that have fallen in love on-line or in other forums have bridged the distance, but many don't have that option. Careers and other obligations even force many married couples to live in separate states. Military partners are quite frequently parted as well. Whether the long-distance relationship is temporary (even for short terms like business trips) or an on-going situation, couples can use the space and time to actually bring them closer. How do these far-apart lovers stay connected? Fortunately, technology has also helps in that department. A good dose of creativity is just as powerful, though! Some partners that live together or nearby even claim that a little vacation or time apart every now and then is crucial to keeping the romance alive. We all need some level of space and time to ourselves, but we can use those times to lovingly spark our relationships. So, whatever your circumstances, there are fun and romantic ideas to benefit any type of couple. If you and your distanced honey both have access to the Internet, there is a growing market filled with aids to keep you together and sane even when you can't be physically together. Several excellent options include, e-mail, IRC, ICQ, designing a shared web site to send each other messages along with graphics and sound files, voice mail, setting up a web cam, etc. Other ideas include both traditional and not so traditional methods that are highly adored. These may include: hand-written love letters, creating self-recorded cassette tapes with either favorite love songs or your own voice (perhaps reading a story or simply telling your partner how much you love him/her), taping a video with yourself doing something sweet or sexy (stripping, taking a bath, experiencing special moments your sweetie can't be there for - birthdays, parties, graduations, etc. - lying in bed reciting a special poem, or just you at home). You could also opt to save up frequent flyer miles or make friends with a pilot! Considering couple candles or love lockets. For the candles, you simply send (or present your special someone with prior to a trip) one of a matching set of candles. If you can find one with a heart or rose on it, all the better. Also consider the scent, keeping the benefits of aromatherapy in mind. Include an invitational card noting the designated date and time that you will both light your candles. During this time, you can agree to concentrate only on thoughts of the other or togetherness.
