Summertime Dating Guide

As the days of summer begin to wind down for many of us, it's the last chance to make the most of this sunny season. This week's goal is to brainstorm and thus spark ways to indulge in these remaining weeks of summertime fun, especially within relationships. There are countless ideal date options for this time of year, probably more so than any other season. So taking advantage of the long days and warm nights with significant others is most favorable now.

Summertime date considerations:

  • visiting local carnivals/fairs
  • taking picnics
  • pier dancing
  • boating (rent a canoe, sailboat, partyboat, etc. for a few hours at a local marina)
  • motorcycling
  • attending a car show/event
  • visiting an amusement park
  • hot air ballooning
  • hiking, biking, walking at a park
  • going to a drive in movie theater (if you can locate one still in existence)
  • (for the adventurous romantics) sky diving
  • moonlight beach strolling (hand in hand, of course)
  • attending outdoor concerts (check community schedules for many free jazz or bandshell events)
  • watching a fireworks display
  • outdoor dining
  • taking in a baseball game (or even a local little league game)
  • act like teenagers and go "parking"
  • visiting a zoo
  • star watching (it's actually peak meteor shower season - check for sky guides)
  • browsing outdoor markets, yard sales, antique shops, etc.
  • going horseback riding
  • spending a day at the beach together (build sand castles, rub sun lotion on each other, shop the boardwalk...)
  • indulging in ice cream together
  • taking a sunset cruise in you car (roll down the windows, listen to music, and laugh together)
  • test driving an exotic sports car together - just for fun
  • couple camping
  • taking a harbor cruise (afternoon and evening cruises usually come with buffet meals, dancing, shows, bands or DJ's - some offer sunset, moonlight parties, or even theme cruises such as island escapes or holiday events. See link below.)

Any further suggestions, personal summer date experiences, or tips from readers are highly encouraged within the romance forum. Also, look for fall, winter, and spring editions of romantic date guides to come.
