This is the final segment of the romantic meals series. If you've missed the past two weeks, the articles were respectively focused on breakfast in bed and romantic picnics. Now, it's time to highlight what probably is the most romantic of all: dinner for two!
For starters, pay a visit to a former romance suite feature, Planning the Perfect Romantic Meal. There are suggestions galore for setting the mood for love. Within that article, there are tips for choosing sensually-inducive foods and beverages, romantically-inspiring candles, fun meal preparation, and of course stimulating menu options!
Consider a "theme night" where you can incorporate decorations, outfits, and music to enhance the mood. Fun and sexy possibilities are limitless! For instance: honey glazed ham, and frosted drinks for an Island Oasis... pasta dishes, Italian bread, and salads for a (pseudo) Night in Venice... enchiladas, tortilla chips, salsa, and Margaritas for a Mexican Cantina date... Jambalaya and cajun anything to create a Mardi Gras at home...or order take out Oriental dishes, eat with chopsticks, sit on floor pillows, and of course share fortune cookies...even try rum concoctions while playing reggae to design a Jamaican beach party for two!
Tip: Oriental Trading Co. has some great, inexpensive "props" you could use as well (Hawaiian leis and grass skirts, beaded necklaces, outdoor theme lights of a string, tropical drink umbrellas...all that festive gear that will add to the setting.)
Speaking of which, setting is again an important decision to make. Depending on the occasion or theme, the location can become part of the overall scene and suited to fit the mood. While romantic restaurants (especially ones with candlelight dinners, fireplaces, piano bars and/or dancing) are always nice, the offerings here will aim toward more of the private, creatively unique dinners. Sure, the dining room table is the traditional spot for a meal, but for your special night, try to veer away from the common. Use your imagination and make it both fun and romantic by trying a different backdrop. Here are some ideas: on a patio/deck, in a garden,at the local park, on the living room floor (add pillows and standing candle holders), in bed (a canopy or even a poster bed up the possibilities...add tiny lights, sheets or curtains to create a private lovers' tent), or even make a new use of a bathtub! (Use one of those tub trays or add a small table or upturned box next to the tub and you'll be set!) All this opens up lots of springboards for some role playing excitement, in the process!
