Message in a Bottle

Last year, I wrote a special dedication page in honor of my favorite book. The Notebook: A Tribute was written to inspire fellow romantics who hadn't yet read the novel to do so. I still hold that as my all-time favorite book, but now I've discovered a close runner-up. This past month, a wish from last year finally came true. Nicholas Sparks, the author of The Notebook, has finally presented the world with his second classic love story. Without even reading the jacket, I immediately bought a copy at the local bookstore. I knew that an author with that kind of romance in him could again capture my heart. After I got home, I couldn't wait to submerge myself in it, and I was not disappointed. I read it almost straight through and loved it. Message In A Bottle now resides upon my "cherished books" bookshelf, right next to me beloved copy of The Notebook. So, once again, here I am to highlight the heart and soul of this novel in sincere hopes that readers will find the beauty of this book and bring its powerful lessons into their own lives.

Message In A Bottle is a tale truly capable of renewing faith in the power of destiny. I found the most endearing sections of the book to be the series of letters. The lessons found within the covers, and especially within those letters, apply to anyone in any relationship. To me, the themes are to never underestimate, deny, take for granted, or postpone love. Sometimes we run out of time to say and share the things we want and need to with those we treasure most. Instead of wishing things to be different from our pasts, we need to concentrate on how to make the future all it can be. Most importantly, we should cherish each moment and make our relationships as fulfilling and open as possible - today. Let those you love know by hearing, seeing, and feeling how precious they are. The old conception about letting something you love go and believing that if it was meant to be, it will someday return, is not a wise choice. What if tomorrow doesn't come? After reading Message In A Bottle, we are lead to realize that today is the day to say those important things, to make amends, to be open, to chase dreams, and to give those we love everything they deserve.
