~Resolutions of Love~

Here we are, a brand new year--1997!! As thoughts shift from the recent holidays, they move toward notions of fresh starts, primarily, making those annual resolutions. Once again, personal goals are being set, only to be abandoned before Spring even contemplates its arrival. Unfortunately, resolutions are often forfeited because they simply are not reasonable or meaningful to the individual. Instead of vowing to lose weight, budget your money more wisely, or remodel your home, this year, consider making a resolution of love!

What exactly is a resolution, anyway? As someone who constantly seeks meanings, I did a little research. A resolution is defined as: a fixed determination or resolving a discord. "Resolve" means to: break into parts; solve a problem or set a course of action. A truly obtainable resolution, therefore, must be chosen with that lingo in mind. For instance, the goal should be something specific that you feel strongly about, that will improve your current character, & it should consist of a series of smaller, yet "do-able" actions.

A perfect resolution of love can be as simple as making conscious efforts at becoming more romantic. Make a list of all the ways you can obtain the goal. Start with some of the suggestions below, check one of my favorite links for ideas, & by all means add your own personal suggestions. The sky, & your imagination, are the only limits! This could be a fun joint project with your mate, as well.

Some suggestions to get your creativity going:

~ set aside daily quality time together
~ establish a weekly "date night"
~ share household chores by setting a schedule
~ vow to compliment your partner every day
~ present a unique "just because" gift at least once a month
~ really listen to your partner's concerns without getting upset
~ create private rituals--kissing before going to sleep,etc.

Entering the season of self-improvement doesn't necessarily mean you need to leave behind the season of giving. By combining the two through a resolution of love, this year may just well be the best & most romantic ever! Hopefully, with the positive feedback you're sure to gain, the encouragement will come to make this resolution into a life-long habit.
