Hopfeully all your Holiday celebrations were memorable and, of course romantic! As promised,a previous article is being featured as a follow-up for this week.
The first step is in creating the menu. Planning doesn't destroy spontaneity ~ it creates opportunity! A few tips should be considered. Plan a variety of textures, colors, aromas, & flavors to add interest. With romance the theme, keep the menu lite. High fat items, cheese-filled dishes, or turkey will leave you & your mate with little energy. Opt for fish, rice, shellfish, fresh fruits & veggies, light pastas, pastries, etc. A fun dessert can be the perfect finale to your ideal meal. Think on the lines of things to feed each other: grapes, cherries, fruit sorbets, or something with a little chocolate sauce would be enticing! Green M& M's (renowned aphrodisiacs) also hold possibilities. Replace heavy-laden sauces with spices. A glass or two of wine (not an entire bottle) adds a nice touch. A cup of coffee after any meal is a good choice, since caffeine is a circulation booster! Again, moderation is the key. Remember too much of a good thing . . . Now that your menu is taking shape, the second step is in creating the ideal setting. The presentation can greatly enhance the overall mood. Emphasis should be on elegance & simplicity. Music can add charm, as long as it remains softly in the background, as not to interfere with conversation. Candles accompanying the setting will complete the aura. Lavender, vanilla, jasmine or pumpkin pie scents are most romantically inspiring. Make sure any necessary utensils are included. If, however, the meal is private, (which is the ideal) I'd strongly recommend improvising with fingers, etc. as much as possible! Also, include napkins or linens for any clean -ups. Of course, a hot bath or shower together could also be a perfect follow-up to your meal. The last step is in the actual meal preparation. It would be wise to unplug the phone or turn on the answering machine to eliminate distractions. Cooking together can be lots of fun as well as a wonderful prelude to your main course. Take time to make the most of this process by sharing every step. The rest is up to you . . . Bon appetite! Go To Page: 1 2
