Romance Web-bonds: Rings & Organizations

© Michele KayD

This week's theme is love and romance Web rings and related on-line organizations. Once again, I've gone through the searching to present the "elite" links for my faithful (as well as newly-found) readers. E-mail me regarding any worthy additions I may have missed. I'll add them to my list for a future update article. Now, let the explorations begin!

Web-RingsFor anyone who is unclear about the meaning of a Web ring, it basically is a group of on-line sites sharing a common interest or theme. Each individual site is linked to the others via a banner-type image on the page. This is a great way to randomly browse the web for a specific topic — such as romance. The majority of the rings are open for new members through a screening process. Therefore most of the pages within are decent quality. Of course, as with all things in our society, some hold higher standards than others. Just remember to keep an open mind and enjoy your journey. Note: To perform a topic search for other rings fitting your unique interests, pay a visit to the WebRing directory. For now, however, here are the love and romance treats I've discovered...

  • Ring of Romance — This is the "original and official" Ring of Romance (to which yours truly belongs)!

  • Romance Reading Ring — This ring is designed to link homepages and web sites relating to romance novels. The focus is on both reading and writing.

  • Sweet Talk WebRing — A rather small but quaint bonding which is based on sites full of romantic experiences, images, songs, stories, ideas, poetry and loving friendships around the world. The sites included are selectively "clean" and tasteful in their content.

  • Love Ring — All things considered romantic are connected within this 33+ site ring. Ring owner, "Lana Luv" completes her group with homepage topics of love, romance, poetry and even a bit of matchmaking.

  • Internet Romance Ring — Another small but devoted group of sites consisting of couples who met (and just so happened to fall in love) over the Internet! This ring is rated PG-13.

    Organizations

  • Cupid's Network — A closely tied cyber-community comprised of companies or organizations which provide products and/or services to singles. These members are known as Cupid's Net Affiliates.

  • Ladies of the Heart — This has proven to be a rapidly growing support group of web women. With or without personal homepages, these wonderful ladies have built their very own "sisterhood" filled with love, guidance, reassurance, sympathy, empathy, kindness, enlightenment and inspiration! (I also belong to this one, as well as the related L.O.T.H web ring.)
