As the Memorial Day weekend has just ended here in the U.S., the unofficial kick-off of the summer season is now in full swing. The hot weather has blanketed the glories and passions of the lazy days of summer. With the welcome of the season's arrival, this week is dedicated to summertime dating and mating ideas!
Check the 1998 Summer Dating guide for more: Suggestions for heating up your summer with romance: Allow yourself to kick back and relax, then start off with your own list of summer joys (favorite activities, childhood memories, foods, drinks, dreams...) . If you are in a relationship, have your honey to create his/her own list and compare. Vow to share indulging in as many as possible during the summer of '99!
spend a sunny weekend afternoon playing in the sprinkler or use the kids' water guns for a battle of love.
head to the beach for a weekend(or play hooky and take a day off work) adventure for two. (Walk along the moonlit beach, build sand castles, collect exotic shells...)
if you can't get away, build that sand castle in your backyard sandbox or create one!
visit a local park or playground: push each other on the swings, take a nature walk, rent a canoe, have a picnic, ride bikes, play a game of catch...
take a summer course exploring something you'd both like to learn
build a birdhouse or hummingbird feeder
plant a garden (floral, herbal, vegetable, butterfly, whatever) to nourish and be nourished by all season
do some star gazing
put up a porch swing and make out on steamy summer nights (don't forget to light some citronella candles to ward off the bugs, though!)
make frosty, tropical drinks
play: a round of tennis or golf, shoot some hoops, play horseshoes...)
stop by a library or bookstore together and choose some couple summer reads.
go camping, tenting or rent a cabin in the woods for a romantic and secluded getaway
go swimming
select a shady spot in your yard to be a your "love nest" --put down a blanket and read to each other or picnic or play a board game
host a summer theme party: ex. A Hawaiian Luau or a beach bonfire bash
get the coals burning---on the grill that is! Share the cook out duties and the meal--then make use of the heat by roasting marshmallows over the grill
split an ice cream sundae or frozen dessert
