Spring Dating & Mating Guide: Part One

Spring is the season made for and attracting to lovers. Instead of one week's dedication to the glories of love this time of year, the Romance Suite is featuring two weeks worth of devotion to the season. This is, therefore, part one of the spring dating (and mating) guide. There are lots of suggestions for taking advantage of the annual passion surges. This particular segment will focus on ideas for making the most of springtime for new and mature coupons. Next week will be dedicated to virtual (and or cyberly-aided) romance ideas for the season of rebirth.

Dating and mating ideas:

  • take couple walks or hikes (immerse yourselves in the budding beauty of nature, whether you're committed or just casual). *Note: these can be daytime or moonlight strolls, depending on the temperature and mood!
  • take a picnic with the object of your affection (try a park, playground, or even home and stock the basket with fresh seasonal fruits and veggies, cheeses, bread, wine, crackers, etc.)
  • go fly a kite - literally! It's fun and will open up your free-spirited, playful sides
  • even if it's still a bit early for sunbathing, visit a beach and indulge in a stroll along the surf
  • take a spontaneous weekend getaway - you don't even need a destination; just drive to where your hearts lead you!
  • visit a flea market or community yard/garage sales on a Saturday morning
  • take a bike ride together - the boardwalks and shore areas usually even offer those made just-for-two kinds!
  • spring as a team, but vow to make it fun (lots of stolen smooches and laughter)
  • consider painting a room as a weekend joint project. Choose a spring-inspired hue and be creative! (Shower together after the job is completed!)
  • go to a greenhouse or nursery and pick out some plants, flowers, shrubs, etc. - something you will then plant with your mate. How about a theme such as his/her favorite color garden, a vegetable, rose or butterfly garden. Watch the new life bloom along with your love!
  • join a gym as a couple...support each other in getting in shape for shorts weather and shed that winter flab with your honey.
  • take a Sunday afternoon date to the zoo (let the animal instincts arise!)
  • spend a day at a nearby winery
  • be the first to grace an amusement park for the opening of the season
  • find out when the circus will be coming to town (or close by) for a fun and exotic date with or without kids
