Since many of us are experiencing the cold, blustery, and even snowy days of winter, it's the prefect time for the next seasonal dating guide. The Romance Suite has featured summer and fall guides previously. As the days are short and the nights are long (for many of us), it's only fitting to suggest ways to make the most of the season, by romancing a date or your mate. If you have any further ideas, please enter them in the discussion forum (linked to the bottom of this page).
Before the suggestions are presented, however, here is a poem to set the scene: Winter Love
Let us have winter loving that the heart
May be in peace and ready to partake
Of the slow pleasure spring would wish to hurry
Or that in summer harshly would awake,
And let us fall apart, O gladly weary,
The white skin shaken like a white snowflake.
- Elizabeth Jennings Winter Romancing/Dating Ideas:
go ice skating together (hold hands throughout and catch each other if you fall)
rent snowmobiles (ride nestled close, find a secluded spot, and take a smooch break!)
consider skiing, snowboarding, or tubing at a convenient mountain
take in a movie or rent a video to watch at home (preferably one with a romantic plot)
go sledding by moon and starlight at a local hill
light a fireplace and snuggle by the glow to warm each other inside and out!
rent a cabin in the woods for a weekend getaway
take a spur-of-the-moment trip some place warm and/or tropical
if you can't afford the time or money, create an indoor oasis of your own (crank up the heat, dig out a beach blanket, wear swim suits and shades, rub suntan lotion on each other...)
build a snowman or make snow angels
have a snowball battle (as long as you agree to "make up" afterward!)
indulge a day or two at a "couples' resort" - pick one with a Jacuzzi, sauna or steam shower
dress up and go out dancing (whispering plans for later)
light candles and slow dance privately at home
go ice fishing at a secluded lake
visit a coffee shop - sip your favorite cafe's indulgences while discussing dreams and wishes
make a romantic dinner together (share the cooking and make it fun!)
hang out in a large bookstore for an afternoon (browse interesting titles and read on the couches)
venture to a shopping center and try on wild outfits for each other
