I'm delighted when I find a connection between my editorials--sort of a continuation of a theme. I am presenting proof of the power of love therapy, of which I touched upon in last week's article, "Hearts in Motion." Love goes beyond romance & intimacy. It fuels friendships to treasure throughout our lives. It gives us reason to care, to believe, to open up, to trust, & often, even reason to live. One special individual exemplifies the miracle that supportive love & friendship can greatly touch, strengthen, & empower even those suffering through the daily battle of life. Her name is Missy, & she is the inspiration behind the candles illuminating their way across the Internet. These flames lead to a journey of hope & determination. Her inspiring lessons on life, love & wisdom unfortunately come from a challenging struggle with illness. What truly sets Missy apart from others, however, is her genuine presentation. She doesn't dwell on the negative physical aspects of her own life. Instead, she chooses to open up her learning experience to others. A quote from Missy: "I try to deal with illness & pain on a spiritual & emotional level. I am much more than these diseases I live with. I hope that through this page, you & I can both discover that person inside of me again. This page is my self therapy, my end of denial, & my announcement to the world ...that I am still a living, loving, feeling soul walking the earth for an undetermined amount of time. I know not if there is tomorrow, or if I'll walk another year, but I know that I don't want to walk alone anymore. So, I ask you to walk with me through the journey."
