Daniel Smith lay braindead on the hospital bed...or so the medical chart claims. Jocelyn Brady isn't sure exactly what's going on, but the P.I. masquerading as a nurse is determined to get the man she knows is Daniel McCullen, out of Dr. Seth Martin's grip.

In a daring escape, the duo manage to elude Martin, an organ transplant specialist with an ax to grind, only to have he and his henchman show up time and time again. On the run, Daniel and Jo travel north, leaving Florida's stormy weather behind, building their own kinetic energy fueled with passion, anger and deception.

Daniel, who five years earlier worked for Martin as a criminal defense lawyer, has a handsome face Jo can't forget. He was the man who convinced the jury that Seth Martin was not guilty of the murder of an innocent child. It was he who twisted Violet Jocelyn Brady's testimony in order to free his client.

While Jo relives the nightmares, Daniel is living his own private agony, from a drug-induced withdrawal to the reality of his one-time father-in-law's demented actions. Both Jo and Daniel attempt to resist the undeniable magnetism that keeps pulling them together as they fight the demons of their pasts. Is Daniel as corrupt as his dead wife's father? Can they stay alive long enough to reach Canada for a wedding neither can afford to miss and a chance for a measure of closure?

Jan Springer has created a complex, twisting and turning rollercoaster ride towards an unknown destination, introducing new characters and suspense-filled subplots with each corner the reader passes. Fortunately the book is laced with completely captivating dialogue and incredibly scintillating sexual tension. The plot, while undeniably complicated, flows through to a satisfying conclusion.

AS BIG AS THE SKY is a hypercoaster ride of a read that will leave you gasping for breath and wanting more.
