P.S. I've Taken A Lover by Patricia Lucas White

P.S. I've Taken A Lover Patricia Lucas White LionHearted Publishing, Inc. Copyright: 2000 ISBN: 1-57343-004-8 394 pages

After reading the first 3 chapters, I felt like trying my hand again at writing. This book is THAT good. I won't be surprised when this book it makes it to the top of the charts! Deliciously witty and hilarious. Boy can I identify with the heroine and I'm sure a lot of you will, too.

Elizabeth Gilmartin, wife and rug, to her patronizing husband, Edgar, feels condemned to a life of taking care of Edgar and his home. She doesn't have to work outside the home but spends every day doing specific house chores and takes care of her husband. She has wanted to write for several years but her husband says she has no talent. He constantly gives her a hard time for forgetting things or not listening to him and say's she's menopausal and needs to make sure she takes her estrogen. The gall of the man.

Cass, Elizabeth's rich friend, wants Elizabeth to go with her to a writer's workshop. Edgar is adamant about her not going. Then later she gets a phone call from the airlines giving her reservation info. Cass shows up with new clothes for Elizabeth. Edgar approved the trip. Elizabeth is not only thrilled by amazed. Edgar later tells her he wanted her to get the writing bug out of her system. Elizabeth cleans the house, cooks Edgar meals in advance, and hops on a plane with Cass and feels awful. She should be home for Edgar. She calls his office to find out that Edgar and Karoline Marshall (his secretary) went to Las Vegas on a business trip that supposedly has been on the books for two months. Elizabeth is sure she was never told about this trip. Edgar is cheating on her. No wonder they haven't had sex in two years.

There are many times where even Elizabeth doubts her sanity. Ms. Marshall has convinced Edgar that because is wife is menopausal that the rest of her life is over and that she is insane. I could actually see something like this happening.

This is a must read. I look forward to seeing more books by this author.

Patricia lives with her husband and mentally challenged daughter in the majestic Cascade Mountains of Southern Oregon. The richness and diversity of her surroundings serve as a constant inspiration, tickling her imagination, feeding her creativity, making her want to find the words to express not just what her eyes see, but also the emotional response to the snow-shrouded volcanic cinder cones and deeply mysterious blue lakes.
