The Lone Wolf"s Child by Patricia RosemoorThe Lone Wolf's Child Patricia Rosemoor Copyright 2000 250 pages Harlequin Intrigue ISBN: 0-373-22563-6 I have to say I read the back cover I thought, here is another cowboy book. I live in Wyoming; we have a lot of cowboys around here. Then I found out there was a secret baby and the cowboy used to rodeo. Hmm. This might be a great book yet. Prudence Prescott, a preacher's daughter, lives in Silver Springs with her sister's family. Chance Quarrels left her for the rodeo circuit without a word. Chance comes back two years later at his ailing father's request. He has never gotten over Pru, even though he has had many opportunities with the buckle bunnies at the rodeo. Pru doesn't want anything to do with him. He broke her heart once and there was no way she was going to subject her daughter to a man that would also break her heart. And Pru wasn't taking any chances that Chance may find out Hope is his baby. There is trouble from the start of this book. Chance is supposed to testify in court and someone is determined to stop him. He refuses to give in. He has to do the right thing. A man's family needs to know the truth. Someone is trying to sabotage the ranch and the old guy doesn't have it in him anymore to protect it. When someone kidnaps baby Hope, Chance knows he will do anything to save the child of the women he loves. I wonder if Chance will ever figure out Hope is his child and then what will happen to his relationship with Pru? The Lone Wolf's Child starts out with a bang and doesn't stop from there. You will keep turning the pages until you're done and wonder when you can get your hands on the next Patricia Rosemoor book. The characters are complex and many. I don't know how Ms. Rosemoor can create such great characters in such a short page span. You will love the hero and heroine. They are as true to life as they come. 4 Stars
