Well, here we are. If you're reading this I'll assume you made it past the Y2K problem. It seems that the coming of the new millennium was something of a non-event. It's a shame too, I was all ready to go out with a bang playing "2000 Man" over and over at full blast as the world sank into oblivion. Oh well. Maybe the Mick and Keith will write a 2001 song and we can try it again next year. I would love to know where the boys thought they would be in 2000 when they were writing this song. It's clear that, in 1967, Mick saw the inevitable generation gap that he would soon be on the receiving end of. While Keith was busy making comments about small men and petty morals, Mick seems to have realized that someday someone would be considering him that way. We're left with the question "was it all a big put on"? How much of the 60s was freedom and creativity and how much was just childish rebellion? Somehow I don't think we're ever going to get an answer from Mick and the boys.
